TheBritish Film Institute in London was founded in 1933. It is a charitable institution established by royal charter. The BFI currently plays a major role in the cultural and creative industries. In collaboration with the National Archive, the Reuben Library at Southbank and BFI IMAX, one of the BFI’s purposes is to promote film distribution, exhibitions and education by publicising and organising festivals. .
For the production and subsequent distribution of films, education, exhibition coordination and research, etc., the BFI is financed by the national lottery.
With the collaboration of AC/E the British Film Institute is organising the international tour of European Souvenirs, a project created and produced by ZEMOS 98 for the European Cultural Foundation as part of the Remapping Europe project. This Live Cinema show continues with the search for stories that inspire the transformation of what Europe is today.
European Souvenirs sets out to re-imagine current and future Europe through an audio-visual remix in order to seek a more inclusive and up-to-date identity at a time when the project for a common Europe still seems fairly distant to citizens.
