The exhibition, curated by Dr. Beate Kemfert, director of Opelvillen Rüsselsheim, is presented as part of Spain's Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Through an outstanding selection of works by the versatile artist Esther Ferrer, including photographs, models and videos, she reviews iconic works and documents her long career as a performer, especially her approach to the Fluxus movement, initiated in Germany. The exhibition includes the performance that gives it its title Les voy a Cuenta mi vida / Je vais vous raconter ma vie / I'll tell you my life which shows the passage of time.
Esther Ferrer (San Sebastián, Spain, 1937) is one of the most important exponents of performative art in Spain and widely recognized internationally. Throughout her intense career, she has created a large number of works that she has presented in major museums around the world. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the National Plastic Arts Award in 2008, the Gure Artea Award from the Basque Government in 2012 and the Marie Claire Award for Contemporary Art and the Velázquez Award. In 1999, she was one of the artists who represented Spain at the Venice Biennale.
