Errata: Books Do Clutter a Room. NYC x Design 2019

The city’s seventh annual NYCxDESIGN celebration runs from May 10-22, 2019. This edition includes with the support of AC/E, through the PICE grants, the exhibition 'Errata: Books Do Clutter a Room' curated by Nelson Hart (Antifurniture) and Miguel Leiro, involving Spanish designers. Participants range from renown figures of the design scene to more up and coming creatives. All benefit from the experience of exhibiting in NYC along with the possibility of establishing new relationships, both with their fellow exhibitors and local design scene.

The exhibition 'Reading Form' presents a curated selection of new products, designed by Spanish creatives at the prestigious ‘Mast Books’ space. The design brief presented entices each designer to produce a series of objects which provide some sort of function when reading, storing, supporting or transporting the books. This becomes interesting both for the book store as well as the designers, challenging their own portfolio and typology of work. The following designers have been incorporated: Jorge Penades, Julen Ussía, Sara Regal, Pablo Alabau, Colectivo la Cosa and Tomás Alonso. Each will produce a specific piece for the exhibition, bringing it with them to New York for the inauguration.

There will be a talk on May 17th at the exhibition about "Challenges to Becoming a Designer", in collaboration with Pratt Institute, Center for Career & Professional Development.

"NYCx DESIGN, New York City’s annual celebration of design, attracts hundreds of thousands of attendees and designers from across the globe. Taking place each May, the event celebrates a world of design and showcases over a dozen design disciplines through exhibitions, installations, trade shows, panels, product launches, open studios, and more. And, like design itself, NYCxDESIGN is everywhere, with events taking place across the city’s five boroughs. "
