Elena Rey studied singing under the Spanish tenor Juan Sebastián García Caminos, attaining a professional qualification in 2010. She furthered her studies at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid under soprano Dolores Travesedo. She currently trains with the soprano Sara Matarranz and the pianist Jorge Robaina.
She has performed in Los gavilanes, in the role of Rosaura, with the Musiarte Producciones company directed by Dolores Travesedo. In 2012 she played the part of Eurydice in Monteverdi’s L'Orfeo in the Sala Gayarre of the Teatro Real in Madrid.
She was chosen by the Asociación Amigos de la Ópera de Madrid to perform a recital as part of the programme of promising new singers of 2013 at the theatre of the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid. In 2013 she took part in the Jacinto Guerrero singing competition and won the prize awarded by the audience as well as the Juan González Guerrero special award for the best performer of the work of Jacinto Guerrero.
