Since its establishment in 2006, the Festival Internacional de Cine Documental de la Ciudad de México (International Documentary Film Festival of Mexico City, DocsDF) has been an annual event intended to promote and disseminate contemporary documentary cinema, accompany the training of new filmmakers and documentalists, and promote the creation and development of documentary projects in Mexico and Latin America.
AC/E is collaborating with this year’s DocsDF through the PICE programme for the internationalisation of Spanish culture, which has made possible the presence of Spaniards Joan González (director general of Parallel 40 and a documentary activist),Javier Corcuera (film director) and Alba Sotorra (independent producer).
Owing to the success secured in 2012 with Latin Side of the Doc-Mexico and the first Ibero-American Producers’ Forum, the 8th edition of DocsDF features a programme focused on industry, training and professionalization of documentary films.
The aim of DocsForum is to become consolidated as a working platform that provides a range of opportunities directed at developing projects in need of funding, the market for the sale and distribution of finished productions, meetings between producers and decision makers, and international coproductions of this film genre.
