The DocsBarcelona International Documentary Film Festival celebrates its 21st edition from May 16th to 27th, offering a selection of the best documentary films on the international scene. DocsBarcelona 2018 edition has a selection 41 films and it is internationally recognized for professionals from all over the world who come to present their films and projects.
In DocsBarcelona take place the best national and international documentaries to which the audience could not have access otherwise. It is a great platform for the local talent and the ideal setting to present their works in Catalonia. The festival provides a framework for professional meetings based on reflection, understanding, dissemination, creation, funding and showcasing interactive documentaries. This section consists of a conference focusing on the international sphere, featuring papers on transmedia creation and storytelling and significant case studies. AC/E supports the presence of International sector professionals to give them the opportunity to view Spanish projects, experiences and initiatives presented in the festival.
This year’s edition also stands out for its richness and the heterogeneous genres and tones of all films, which range from the comedy of reality, with works such as "See you tomorrow", "God willing!", "La flor de la vida" or "Robar a Rodin", to the crudest portraits of current issues, such as "Of Fathers and Sons", "The Cleaners" or "Voces de Guerrilla."
Thanks to the commitment of the documentalists, the festival will approach conflicts in Colombia, Syria, Ukraine or Congo. With a critical, reflective and courageous spirit, directors of films like "The Congo Tribunal", "Namrud", "The Distant Barking of Dogs", "Treblinka" or "Experimento Stuka" make us reflect on the refugee crisis, contemporary society, freedom of expression and historical memory, becoming brave witnesses of our times.
The programme of DocsBarcelona 2018 is complemented by the Industry activities, which bring together more than 400 professionals, workshops, conferences and the traditional Master Class 7 Plans 7, which this year will teach Talal Derki, director Of Fathers and Sons and Return to Homs.
