Doclisboa seeks to question the present of cinema, placing it in dialogue with its history and assuming filmmaking as a form of freedom. Refusing the categorization of film practice, the festival searches for new complexities within the cinematic image and its multiple forms of engagement with the contemporary. Doclisboa strives to be a place in which to imagine reality through new modes of perception, reflection, and possible new forms of action.
