On May 18, International Museum Day is celebrated around the world under the theme “Museums for education and research,” which highlights the fundamental role of cultural institutions in providing a holistic educational experience. This day advocates for a more conscious, sustainable and inclusive world. This commemoration started in 1977 to raise public awareness about the role of museums in the development of society. Radio 3, with the collaboration of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), joins the celebration with a special program of live performances and dance music with the station's DJs the day before, on May 17.
This is the seventh year that International Museum Day has been celebrated with a great party of live music and culture at the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid. For 19 uninterrupted hours (from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.), a marathon of live performances from the plaza of the Nouvel building. The day can be followed live on Radio 3's regular broadcast. It can also be seen streaming on the station's website and app.
