The international outdoor festival ‘Deventer Op Stelten’ is one of the largest festivals for outdoor theatre in the Netherlands. The program consists of 150 national and international performances in the historic city of Deventer and its region: from spectacular scale to small experiences. The festival engages a large and wide audience for high quality arts for free (130,000 visitors in 2016) and has a solid position in the cultural, social and economic infrastructure of the city and its region.
For 20 years the city of Deventer has now celebrated culture and arts on the streets during the festival 'Deventer Op Stelten'. From 6-9 july 2017 the city turns into a giant open air theatre stage and will attract thousands of enthusiastic visitors. The programme consists of professional performances of the highest level: Theater Titanick (De), KompleX KapharnauM (Fr), Close-Act (Nl), Nofit State Circus (Gb), Aneckxander (Be), Woest (Nl), Cia Maduixa (Es), CQP Produccions (Es) and many others.
AC/E supports the participation of Cia. Maduixa and CQP Produccions. Cia Maduixa will perform 7 shows in Deventer. Their first show will be in the Deventer Schouwburg (local theatre) during the official opening of the festival on the 6th of July. From the 7th until the 9th of July they will perform 6 shows in the open air on the square called Boreeltuin. This square is exclusive for their performances and has the perfect ambiance for this impressive danceshow on stilts.
And of CQP Produccions will perform 8 shows during the festival from the 7th until the 9th of July on a monumental square in the heart of the city. The square is accessible for around 800 people, so the show will be seen by more than 6.000 people.
Both shows are an integrated part of the festival and will have free access for the audience.
‘Deventer Op Stelten’ is an important stage for professional theatre compagnies, productions and for new and young compagnies and artists. The festival is not offering just a performance location, but also the facility to present themselves to other festival programmers. ‘Deventer Op Stelten’ is known for the quality of the programme. Therefore the festival is very attractive for festival programmers and this has led in the recent years to concrete bookings for festivals abroad.
