The spring programme of the Transylvania State Philharmonic Orchestra features the Spanish zarzuela De España vengo, which is part of the first scene of the second act of El niño judío, written by Antonio Paso and Enrique García Álvarez and composed by Pablo Luna. Its premiere performance at Madrid’s Teatro Apolo on 5 February 1918 was a great success.
This concert version is performed by the State Philharmonic Symphonic Orchestra and Choir with the participation of Tulio Gagliardo, Ximena Agurto and Andres Veramendi all three of whom have the support of AC/E. It is an excellent opportunity to promote this typically Spanish genre among Romanian audiences.
Bel canto concerts at the Teatro São Pedro
The Teatro São Pedro’s spring 2016 programme features two concerts with Spanish sopranos Leonor Bonilla and Estefanía Perdomo, who enjoy the support of AC/E. Their performance includes arias from operas such as Gaetano Donizetti’s Don Pasquale and Lucia di Lammermoor and Vincenzo Bellini’s La Sonnanbula and I Puritani, and from the zarzuelas Doña Francisquita, La Gran Via and Del soto del parral – masterpieces for lovers of bel canto. The Spanish sopranos will perform alongside Brazilian singers, making this a unique experience for audiences.
