Days of Poetry and Wine is one of the most well-known international poetry festivals in Eastern Europe. It unites poetry with enology and enriches the last warm August days with poetic, enological, culinary, musical, visual experiences, which bring the narrow medieval streets of Ptuj to life. Every summer it gathers more than 20 poets from around the world and more than 50 other participants - and the international character of the festival draws professional and other visitors from abroad too.
The 22nd edition of the festival takes place between 22nd and 25th August. This year's international focus is Spain and they pay special attention to contemporary Spanish poetry, as well as wine. They are hosting with the support of AC/E the authors Carlos Aganzo, Mercedes Cebrián and Erika Martínez to participate in the following activities within the Spanish focus:
- A translation workshop with four Spanish and four Slovene poets accompanied by a professional translator from Spanish to Slovene language.
- Three evening poetry readings with Spanish poets around Slovenia.
- One grand evening poetry reading at the main festival stage in Ptuj.
- One roundtable on contemporary Spanish poetry.
- One wine tasting event with a Spanish professionals.
