Creative Lab residency 2019 at Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow

AC/E supports the traveling expenses, through the PICE  Mobility grants, of Alberto García del Castillo member of the collective Buenos Tiempos, Int. that has been selected through a very competitive open call to complete a Creative Lab residency at CCA: Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow, Scotland, between 30 April and 10 May 2019. During their residency at CCA, they will undertake research towards the scripting of a new dramatised reading sourced from the English translation of Federico García Lorca’s drama "The Public".

CCA has been hosting 12 Creative Lab residencies per year since 2009. The Creative Lab programme at CCA has been in existence in various forms since 2003. It is an opportunity for emerging and established artists to have time to develop new ideas, rather than focusing on the final outcome. They give artists an opportunity to show their investigations to the public and peers for feedback and provide networking opportunities with other users of the building, including artists, cultural tenants and other CCA contacts.

“The Public” is the third dramatised reading scripted by Buenos Tiempos, Int., after “Strictly Ballroom” and “Total Eclipse”. “The Public” will be sourced from the English translation of Federico García Lorca’s “El público” and will include a jolly menu of pop literature from today and yesterday in order to participate in pop and queer perspectives on the play.
