Clockenflap is the biggest music and arts festival in Hong Kong. It includes international, national and local live music, films, art and an area for families. It has been held annually since 2008 and has been growing every year to become a must-attend event on Hong Kong’s music calendar. It features more than 100 musical performances and more than half of the artists who take part are international.
The festival is a launching pad for promoting new artists in Asia. The young Spanish group HINDS is taking part with the support of the AC/E Mobility programme, and will give a concert on 28 November.
Hinds is a garage-rock lo-fi band formed in Madrid in 2011. Following a long break they resumed activity in 2013, bringing out versions of songs by some of their favourite groups. In April 2014 they released Bamboo and Trippy Gum on Bandcamp and soon drew the attention of many international media. Since then, within less than a year, they have performed in Britain, France, Portugal, Germany, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Thailand, Australia and the United States. They have been top of the bill at many concerts, despite having officially released only four songs. The group was initially called Deers, but they were forced to change their name at the end of 2014 after a Canadian group with a similar name claimed that it could be misleading. They officially changed it to Hinds on 7 January 2015.
