The selection is comprised of:
- Pepe, el andaluz (Concha Barquero, Alejandro Alvarado)
- Ilusión (Daniel Castro)
- Stockholm (Rodrigo Sorogoyen)
The three enjoyed success at Malaga Film Festival, among others. Owing to their aesthetic and subject-matter, they are particular appealing to German audiences interested in Spain and its language and culture. Pepe, el andaluz is a documentary, Ilusión is a medium-length film and Stockholm has a very complex cinematographic aesthetic and highly concentrated mise-en-scene that is a far cry from market logic, and it could not have reached Germany via the conventional distribution channels.
On 26 April the films are due to be premiered in their directors’ presence at the Filmgalerie cinema (Regensburg) with a press conference based on the themes ‘Spanish cinema in Germany’ and ‘Cinema and crisis’. In addition to the directors, participants are Jens Schneiderheinze (manager of the Flux agency), Pedro Alvarez Olañeta (director of the cinEScultura festival) and Ralf Junkerjürgen (professor of Romanesque cultures).
The screening will also mark the starting point for the films’ tour of special cinemas and educational shows in Germany. The AC/E mobility awards have made it possible for directors Concha Barquero, Alejandro Alvarado, Daniel Castro and Rodrigo Sorogoyen to take part in the festival to present their films.
