Beginning in mid-April, the best Spanish and Latin American films will be shown in four cities of Baden-Württemberg.
In addition to the traditional regional focus (on Mexico this year), CineLatino, in collaboration with the film festival and Derechos Humanos de Guatemala (“Muestra de Cine Internacional: Memoria, Verdad y Justicia”), has a second focus devoted to human rights in Guatemala. By screening a variety of films, it sets out to show the fight against violence in this Central American country. Among others, it will show Burden of Peace, presented by Claudia Paz y Paz, the first woman justice minister in Guatemala, in her struggle to combat impunity, corruption and the burdens of the past.
The festival will also screen feature films such as Paulina (which won awards at Cannes and San Sebastián), which examines the difficult decision faced by a young female lawyer, and the Peruvian film Magallanes on a war veteran in Lima who is suddenly brought face-to-face with his past when working as a taxi driver.
CineLatino also has outdoor screens and is present in bars in Tubinga.
