Ciclo de Danza Contemporánea 2.1 is based on a selection of duos and solos and focuses on featuring young Ibero-American choreographers who establish new relationships with corporality and movement from a male viewpoint. This first edition of this contemporary dance cycle will take place monthly between July and December 2015 at NAVE Centro de Creación y Residencia in Santiago de Chile and involves countries such as Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile. The aim of the cycle is to promote and give visibility to a new generation of choreographers who can bring to the dance scene new ideas related to social happenings and explore masculinity in their creative processes, establishing links with history, pop culture, gender status and the community. The inclusion of Ibero-American artists in programmes depends on seeking topics common to countries and the need to observe the interaction between these relationships and approaches with respect to culture and context.
The cycle features laboratories with local artists aimed at developing new training tools that foster choreographic creation and regional artistic exchanges; roundtables open to the community, aimed at making known mobility tools in the regions and fostering coproduction and residencies; and the presentation of shows, with three performances per guest artist. At this event AC/E is supporting Spanish dance performances by Jorge Dutor & Guillem Mont de Palol, with their work Micrófonos and Pere Faura with Striptease.
