Chococharlas. 900 minutes of trans-urban connections

The aim of Chococharlas is to help strengthen interaction and collaboration between the sectors and agents linked to urban culture in Spain and Brazil. It consists of ten sessions of meetings held in three locations: a set/talk room installed in the courtyard of the Escola da Cidade in Sao Paulo, which is connected with a second set/talk room in the Salón de Grados of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in Madrid and with a third online streaming service. The sessions last 90 minutes each and will be held over a five-week period from April to May 2015. The project is called Chococharlas (chocotalks) because the talks are accompanied by chocolate ice-creams as part of the event.

The master plan and game rules for the sets/talk rooms are designed by  Andrés Jaque/Office for Political Innovation, based on similar projects such as FRAY FOAM HOME (Venice Biennalea, 2010), IKEA Disobedients (MoMA, New York, 2012) and Hänsel & Gretel Arenas (La Casa Encendida, Madrid, 2013). The political and relational dimension of architectural decoration and finishes is discussed and experienced with the participation of a team of students from the Escola da Cidade under the guidance of lecturers from the school. Each school of architecture has contributed to the curatorial work by appointing a curator. The final staging of each set and the technical coordination of the sessions have been entrusted to teams of experienced architects Fazemos Arquitetura in Sao Paulo and Bollería Industrial in Madrid.

All the events were broadcasted in streaming and the edited footage is part of an online archive accessible from AC/E’s web platform.
