Since 1st December 2001, the Hungarian Art of Dance has had a “home” in Budapest; a house, a theatre where professional Hungarian dance can be shown, can be presented to the audience – from folklore to classical ballet, from contemporary dance theatre to street breakdance, from large companies to creative groups numbering a mere handful. Along with the performances attendant art also appeared; in the gallery of the National Dance Theatre temporary exhibitions by Hungarian artists can be seen, and in the Kerengő (Cloister) Gallery visitors can view photographic exhibitions.
AC/E collaborates with the festival supporting the participatio of the Spanish company Rojas & Rodriguez with the spectacle Titanium. Passion would be the best qualifying adjective to describe Rojas & Rodriguez, the passion they transfer the audience that follows these two non-conformist artists who once decided to change things in order to feel freedom in the first person. Titanium is a show in which flamenco and hip hop meet and fuse, both dance styles were born in the street as a way of expression for people who had the need to communicate themselves through improvised movements, music and aesthetics which were creating a new and own style. Titanium is a show in which twelve men on stage, dancers and musicians, mix the world of flamenco with hip hop and break dance culture, showing through urban dances that flamenco is still an art in constant evolution.
