Bucharest Early Music Festival is a unique event that brings together rare and delightful early sounds from the medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods. All the artists perform in an authentic manner consonant with the period the music is from, and each concert has a moderator who provides historical and musical information. During the festival concerts are held daily at some of the most exquisite concert halls and buildings in Bucharest.
This year’s festival has the support of AC/E, which has facilitated the participation of the Spanish early music group Cinco Siglos through the PICE mobility grants.
Since its establishment in 1990, Cinco Siglos has been devoted to the study and dissemination of early music. So far the group has published nine albums that span from the beginnings of instrumental music to the last of the styles that are usually labelled as “early music”.
