Biennale of Sydney 2016

The 20th International Biennale of Contemporary Art will take place in 2016. Curated by  Stephanie Rosenthal, who has worked alongside thirteen eminent curators, writers and theoreticians to give shape to the exhibition, it sets out to explore absence and memory, the disappearance of languages, stories, emblems and landscapes. Among the artists showing their work at this Biennale is Aura Satz of Spain, with the support of AC/E.

Aura Satz’s work spans film, music, performance and sculpture. Interested in augmented perception and sensorial disorientation, such as blinking and psychoacoustics, Satz has used various technologies in her work, including Chladni plates, Rubens’ tubes, Theremin, mechanical music, phonograph grooves, dial tones, elaborate sound/optics and early colour film. Satz seeks connections between objects and the body and examines how many devices were modelled on the human anatomy, almost as prosthetic extensions of the individual.
