Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography is a non-profit association that organises the only annual festival of emerging photography in Switzerland. Every April the festival brings together works by national and international photographers. The 2016 edition of the festival is commemorating its 20th anniversary and will show, under the title Permis de Construire, how contemporary images reconstruct reality, examining issues such as the building of identity and the social and artificiality, paying special attention to current creative processes based on the direct 3D recording and various types of photomontage.
The 20th edition of the festival features the Spaniard Miguel Ángel Tornero, with the support of AC/E through its Programme for the Internationalisation of Spanish Culture. He will present his new series of photos entitled The Random Series – madrileñotrip, images that will be shown for the first time in Switzerland and are an opportunity for international promotion for the artist. The series was created using a non-programmed software failure that joins apparently unrelated images. The event is a chance to get to know other professionals by taking part in meetings and activities such as the portfolio reviews, roundtables and Photographers’ Day.
