The show, curated by Inma Prieto, is on display at the IUAV University in Venice in connection with the 56th Venice Biennale and is staged by the university in conjunction with the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID), with the collaboration of Loop Barcelona and the support of the AC/E Mobility grants.
It features the work of 12 artists who reflect, from different geographical locations, on the social differences stemming from economic inequalities. The project is the result, by way of conclusion, of the exhibitions Hic Et Nunc: Sobre paradojas democráticas (Here and now: on democratic paradoxes) and Ibi Et Nunc: Sobre Paradojas democráticas (There and now: on democratic paradoxes). Both projects have toured the Americas over the past two years thanks to the Spanish Cooperation of the AECID.
The exhibition, open to the public until 30 June, features new works and artists in accordance with the evolution of some of the initial ideas. The artists taking part in this exhibition are Núria Güell, Avelino Sala, Isabel Rocamora, Jorge García, Patricio Palomeque, PSJM, Daniela Ortiz, Joaquin Segura, Iván Candeo, Tomás Ochoa, Eugenio Ampudia and Andrea Mármol.
The 12 works on show, like their predecessors, propose and denounce clearly and directly. The artists make use of their political selves to denounce through their artistic practice. As Iván de la Nuez aptly states in his book Inundaciones. Del Muro a Guantánamo: invasiones artísticas en las fronteras políticas, art has a say, becoming a platform from which to bring opinions closer together.
