Bergen International Festival 2019

Bergen International Festival 2019

The Bergen International Festival was established in 1953 and is the largest of its kind in the Nordic countries. With a combination of dramatic landscapes, local colour and imaginative programming, the festival is well established as a centre for the northern European arts scene, presenting premieres and new productions in the spheres of music, opera, theatre and dance. Each year near 400 events are staged in the course of 15 days in 40 venues, incl. in composers' homes of Grieg and Bull.

AC/E is covering the travel expenses, through the PICE Mobility grants, of the Spanish guests invited to take part La Petita Malumaluga with the show "My Baby is a Queen".

"My baby is a queen" by Spanish ensemble, La Petita Malumaluga, is one of the most ambitious productions for babies, toddlers and their families worldwide. This performance is radically interactive, with four dancers and three musicians on stage. Imagery and movements are aimed at children aged 0 to 3 years of age and their families with figures dancing, actions reflected in the mirror and ethereal and invisible musicians who observe and accompany them. Moving mirrors capture the eye of the observer. How do we look? Where do we look? Why do we look? Themes such as origins, disabilities and gender are explored. This performance is a tour of differences and who and how we see these. The performance was nominated for two Max Awards.
