The sixth edition of this festival devoted to the great composer Johann Sebastian Bach will run for five days in Bruges, one of Europe’s most magical medieval cities. The festival is curated by Philippe Herreweghe and his Collegium Vocale Gent. Every year it features baroque and jazz music concerts, dance and family activities. Nearly 30% of its visitors come from outside Belgium.
At the festival Spanish dancer María Muñoz, who, together with Pep Ramis, forms the company Mal Pelo, will give the premiere performance of her show Bach, with the support of AC/E. It ‘lays bare’ Johann Sebastian Bach with a blend of contemporary dance and a recording of pianist Glenn Gould playing the German composer’s Well-tempered Clavier.
