Artists' Programme Universidad Torcuato Di Tella 2016

The Art Department of the Torcuato Di Tella University celebrated its eighth year of existence in 2015. So far it has held seven editions of the Artists’ Programme and five of the Cinema Programme. Over the years, the Art Department has become established as a space for training, reflection and production for artists, curators and filmmakers, with a focus on the intellectual, sensory and political growth of its students and of the art field.

This year Spanish curator Mariano Mayer has been invited by the Art Department to work there for a whole year to deepen his technical, historical and practical knowledge of curatorial practice. He has been supported by AC/E through the mobility grants.

The production work is structured into main concepts which are explored through reading the recommended literature and audiovisual material, meetings with curators, practical exercises, production of texts, and specific research. Development of curatorial skills takes place throughout the whole year by exchanging ideas with the artists, observing and analysing specific works, and producing the final exhibition project.
