Madrid becomes the world capital of contemporary art during the Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend, a cultural event in which art galleries and museums simultaneously inaugurate their exhibitions with extended opening hours. All activities are free and open to the general public.
For four days, Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend 2019 will hold its tenth edition, reaffirming itself as the major event in the art world after the summer. Its main objective is to bring the general public closer to contemporary creation and spread Madrid’s art scene internationally.
In this latest edition, 49 galleries participate, and more than 70 new and consolidated artists show their works in the exhibitions which range from the avant-garde to contemporary art, as well as numerous disciplines: painting, photography, sculpture, installations, etc. AC/E supports the participation of the following international curators through the PICE Visitors' grants:
