American and Spanish composers of today: a Conversation

American and Spanish composers of today: a Conversation

"Today's Spanish and American composers' perspective: a conversation" presents works by American and Spanish living composers in two concerts in Madrid and New York. The concerts will showcase the diverse compositional styles of each country and the similarities between them, in a conversation between two cultural forces. The programme will include American composers Robert Aldridge (Grammy-Award) and George Walker (Pulitzer Prize), and Spanish composers Benet Casablanca and Octavio Vázquez,  through the collaboration of the Piu mosso Foundation and Rutgers University.

The Piu Mosso Foundation and Rutgers University present two concerts in Madrid (Sala Cibeles) and New York (Cervantes institute) to showcase the current compositional movements in Spain and the US.

The Spanish composers to participate in the event include: Benet Casablancas (Premio Nacional de Música), Octavio Vázquez and Teresa Catalán, among others. Spanish performers will include pianist Enriqueta Somarriba, teaching assistant at Rutgers University, and members of the Piu Mosso Foundation, among others.

American composers and performers to participate in the event include Robert Aldridge (Grammy-Award winner), George Walker (Pulitzer-Prize winner), Min Kwon (pianist, Steinway Artist and Director of Rutgers University Music Department) and Yoon Kwon (violinist, Metropolitan Opera of New York).

This will be a continuation of the partnership between the Foundación Piu Mosso and Rutgers University, that started in 2017 with the concert that will take place on Dec. 28th in Auditorio Nacional de Música of Madrid in homage to composer Leonard Bernstein, also including Spanish and American composers and performers.
