Adelaide Writer’s Week, which is part of Adelaide Festival 2014,is hailed as one of the most important international literary festivals. The nature setting and more than half a century of history of this festival, which features readings, talks, debates and discussions about writers and the book industry, make it one of the events which are most desired by and popular with writers. The activities are mainly free and attract an average of 100,000 visitors each year.
Acción Cultural Española, through its second mobility programme, is supporting the participation of Bernardo Atxaga, whom the Festival has invited to take part in the “Writing in translation” programme which includes more than 80 projects and is designed to help leading Spanish writers establish links with Australian institutions and organisations in order to improve knowledge of Spanish literature in the country.
