Adaptation Film Festival 2018

Adaptation Film Festival 2018

Adaptation Film Festival presents movies that have been adapted by literary sources, such as novels, biographies, theatre plays, and graphic novels. It also organises book presentations, masterclasses with directors and screenwriters, offering aspiring new authors and screenplay writers an outlet to present their work and network in Greece and Europe. AC/E supports the participation in this year's edition of Félix Viscarret,  award-winning director and screenwriter.

Viscarret will introduce three of his newest films, based on the books by Leonardo Padura Fuentes, "Vientos de la Habana", "Máscaras", "Paisaje de otoño" - a co-production by the spanish Tornasol Films. His discussion with the audience will focus on the process of adapting a book for film, international collaboration perspectives, and the influence of hispanic literature in contemporary cinema. The tribute will be concluded with his debut feature film "Bajo las estrellas" (free entrance to the public).

He will also participate in a masterclass geared towards aspiring and new writers, screenwriters, and directors, offering his insight and practical tips both in regards to the international film industry, as well as the collaboration of Spanish companies with other European and countries (free to the participants).

The 2nd edition of AFF will focus on networking aspiring authors, screenplay writers and directors with estabilished members in said fields from Greece and Europe. As Athens will be the 2018 UNESCO book capital, AFF will be an official precursor event, under the auspices of the municipality of Athens and the Athens Cultural Network. Apart from screening select films, a range of educational activities (for students and adults) will take place in collaboration with Petit Plan (www.petitplan.org).
