Venice Biennale. L'Inadeguato, Lo Inadecuado, The Inadequate, by Dora García

The traditional Venetian event, now in its 54th edition, goes under the title of ILLUMInazioni /ILLUMInations, and remains one of the most important international shows in the world of contemporary art.Spain has always played a leading role in the history of this biennial, and has its own exhibition space within Venice's Giardini.

The Directorate for Cultural and Scientific Relations appointed Katya García-Antón as the curator of the Spanish Pavilion in Venice at the suggestion of the advisory committee established for this purpose and made up of Bartomeu Marí, José Lebrero, Estrella de Diego and Carmen Giménez. For this edition Katya García-Antón selected the artist Dora García (born Valladolid, 1965) and her project entitled L’Inadeguato, Lo Inadecuado, The Inadequate. The artist has created a choral performance constantly evolving over the course of the six months of the biennial, performed by some seventy participants. The performance will be supported by a publication and a guide, and employ a series of objects and documents which will be presented to the public in the form an archive.
