Between 15 April and 4 September 2011 the city of Gijón hosted the exhibition La Luz de Jovellanos (The Light of Jovellanos), organized by Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), as executive producers, along with the Gijón City Council and the Cajastur savings bank. Oviedo University's Feijoo 18th Century Studies Institute was responsible for curating the show, included in the programme of activities devised to commemorate the bicentenary of the death of Gaspar Melchor de Jovellanos. The exhibition brings together 250 pieces from 80 different national libraries and archives, local councils, banks, foundations, academies, museums and private collections.
