La Rendija Theatre Festival

La Rendija Theatre Festival

Líbera Teatro is the Spanish company selected to take part in the second edition of La Rendija Theatre Festival, staged between 18 and 25 September 2011 in Mérida, Mexico.

AC/E (Spanish Cultural Action), as part of its efforts to publicise and showcase the work of contemporary Spanish artists on the international stage, is lending its support to the Valladolid-based company comprising three young performers (Evangelina Valdespino, Aldana Herrera and Anahí Santos) and their show Ensayo para una despedida (Rehearsal for a Farewell), directed by the award-winning actor and theatre director Alberto Velasco.

Ensayo para una despedida takes as its starting point the idea of suicide, bidding farewell to one's loved ones, relatives, friends... and how difficult the idea of leave-taking is. A piece in which performers and audience shed their solitude over the course of an hour and find a way to be moved, and even to laugh out loud and approach happiness at such difficult times as these. A mysterious and surreal piece full of emotion, smiles, dance, theatre and honesty.
