Gwangju Biennale. Andrés Jaque

Andrés Jaque Arquitectos is performing an installation at the Gwangju Biennale (South Korea), alongside installations by today's leading architects in the field of critical discourse regarding domestic spaces, such as Diller & Scofidio (NY), Atelier Bow Wow (Tokyo) and MAP Office (Hong Kong). The biennale is Asia's most important architectural event. This fourth edition is expected to attract some half a million visitors.

The biennale, staged from 1 September to 23 October 2011, also involves forums, featuring critics and experts, open to the public, while its activities and exhibitions spread across the whole city.

The Andrés Jaque Arquitectos project is a prototype for shared accommodation inspired by goshiwon residences, where older women share their home with students. The system offers them company and additional income, while the students benefit from home comforts provided without family ties.
