The exhibition Gaudí y la Sagrada Familia de Barcelona. Arte, ciencia y espiritualidad (“Gaudí and the Sagrada Familia de Barcelona. Art, Science and spirituality”) will present the relationship between art, architecture and transcendence, as understood by Antoni Gaudí. In parallel, and as was originally planned, a series of institutional and academic events will be staged in Rome to highlight various aspects of Catalonia's culture and Church, both in the time of Gaudí and the present day, made possible thanks to the sponsorship of the Endesa Foundation and the "la Caixa" Foundation, along with support from the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Pontificium Consilium de Cultura.
The exhibition, which has been organised on the initiative and under the auspices of the Pontifical Council for Culture, will set the figure of Antoni Gaudí in a historical and artistic context, particularly focusing on the Sagrada Familia, the technical and artistic aspects of which will be thoroughly analysed, along with its religious message. The exhibits on display will include models from Gaudí's day, plans, furniture and liturgical objects designed by the architect himself, all drawn from the Sagrada Familia Museum's collections, as well as photographs and audiovisual works.
