Lugar a dudas is an independent non-profit space which promotes and disseminates contemporary artistic creation through a process of research, production and open discussion. Its programme of residencies, started up in 2006, is aimed at artists, curators, writers and other agents in the field of art who wish to explore and examine different forms of interaction that promote collaboration between individuals, disciplines and subjectivities as a starting point for artistic practice and critical thought.
The Spanish curator Rafael Barber was the chosen candidate in 2017. As part of its efforts to promote the internationalisation of culture professionals and in connection with the envisaged collaboration between Spain and Colombia in 2017 and 2018, Acción Cultural Española is supporting Barber’s residency, during which he intends to carry out research into changing perceptions of cultural relations and, by extension, the role of the curator, artistic practice and the relationship with the audience.
During his stay, Barber will conduct his research not only in Lugar a Dudas but also in other institutions that run residency programmes, such as La usurpadora (Barranquilla) Piso Alto y Casa Tres patios (Medellín) Más arte, más acción (Chocó) and Flora (Honda).
