The 6th International Percussion Festival organised by Peru’s National Conservatory sets out to foster the dissemination of the art of percussion, and the training of Peruvian musicians. It promotes knowledge of traditional percussion instruments of both Peru and other regions of the world. Under the coordination of Professor Moisés Siura, musicians with an international track record take part in all the activities, concerts, recitals, lectures, master classes, rehearsals and workshops.
With the collaboration of AC/E through the PICE programme for the internationalisation of Spanish culture, the Neopercusión group directed by Juanjo Guillén is taking part in the 6th festival.
Neopercusión was founded in 1994 and spans all areas of percussion music: classical, ethnic and contemporary. It engages in a very wide range of activities, from performances to teaching, as well as research and dissemination of all aspects of percussion instruments. The group is formed by Juanjo Guilén, Rafa Gálvez and Antonio Picó.
Juanjo Guillem, solo percussionist, orchestra musician and professor, embraces a wide range of artistic proposals thanks to the innumerable artistic and technical skills he has acquired through his expansive performances at important concert halls the world over.
Rafa Gálvez, solo percussionist with the National Orchestra of Spain, engages in intense musical activity in relation to the dissemination and recording of percussion music.
Percussionist Antonio Picó has collaborated with the National Orchestra of Spain, the Symphonic Orchestra of Madrid, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Principality of Asturias and the Symphonic Orchestra of Bilbao, among others.
