China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (CCBF) is the only professional book fair fully dedicated to children’s content in Asia Pacific. After five successful editions, CCBF has become leading publishing event and is now part of an international network along with Bologna Children’s Book Fair and the New York Rights Fair.
The fair focuses on copyright trade and also offers a wide array of professional programmes. It also includes an international children’s reading festival.
The next edition of CCBF will be the first one produced in partnership with Bologna Children’s Book Fair. It is due to attract a growing number of international participants. We are also planning to import some of the best contents produced in Bologna.
The fair doesn’t host a guest of honour, but the excellent performance of Spanish illustration in the fair’s illustration competition has encouraged us to design a block activities about Spanish children’s creation.
Negrescolor, Adolfo Serra and Miguel Pang and Ma Daishu, a Chinese illustrator based in Madrid, are among the most promising voices of contemporary illustrations that participate in the Fair. They are invited to explore Shanghai during and sketch the city for five days. The result of their work will be exhibited in Shanghai as a complement to the Golden Pinwheel Winners exhibition. On the day of the opening, the four protagonists will hold a collective drawing performance to culminate their explorations.
