The Congresso Internacional CBL do Livro Digital – CBL International Digital Book Congress– has been held since 2010, in order to discuss and reflect on market dynamics and the use of new technologies in the world of books. Constant and rapid technological progress has triggered deep changes in society, including patterns in readers’ consumption, which makes it necessary to reconsider the current business model to involve the different agents in the book chain. These annual professional meetings thus serve the purpose of strengthening the ties between the different representatives of the industry and seeking alternatives to the traditional structures and finding solutions for an increasingly dynamic and demanding market.
More than two thousand professionals from the leading publishing companies, bookshops and libraries of Brazil take part in the event, in addition to a large international representation of more than 50 nationalities.
AC/E is taking part in the Congresso Internacional CBL do Livro Digital for the first time in 2014 by organising a round table to analyse the digital book sector in Spain. For this purpose, through the PICE mobility grants, it is supporting the participation of professionals from the digital book sector who analyse the sector’s new business models in Spain: Rosa Sala from SeeBook and José Luis Verdes from Manuscritics.com; and the application of new technologies in traditional areas of the literary chain such as libraries: Carme Fenoll, chief of the public library service of the Generalitat (regional government) of Catalonia.
