PIF 2018. 51st Zagreb International Puppet Theatre Festival

This edition of PIF gathers 16 theatres from 10 countries: Spain, Russia, Poland, Israel, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Switzerland, Canada and Croatia. In official and non official programme there are going to be: puppet performances, exhibition of Romanian puppetry, puppetry workshops, puppet parade, puppet films. Performances are going to be held in four venues in Zagreb, as well as in Music Pavillion Zrinjevac.

AC/E supports the participation through the PICE grants of Periferia Teatro de Titeres with their shows "Guyi Guyi", "Another Ugly Duckling" and "Puppet performance".

Periferia Teatro has been dedicated to the investigation and knowledge of Puppet Theatre since 1989. “It interests us to offer our public, the children, a variety and careful selection of fantasy, that is to their liking and with which they can identify. To this goal we aim to create shows that create maximum spectator participation, as much through the theme of the show as through the dynamics of the performance”. The productions of Periferia Teatro rely on a literary script, which permits the spectator combine reflection and enjoyment with observations from contemporary infant life.

PIF is an international puppet festival of largely professional puppet theatre groups. It is also a festival for any puppeteer or  theatrician  who uses puppetry as a means of artistic expression. Until now more than 450 theatres from all continents have participated. The festival is for both adults and children. PIF has been held each year since 1968, so the festival has  long  tradition behind it. It is  usualy  held  in  the end of August or  in  the beginning of September. PIF host city is Zagreb.
