The São Paulo International Film Festival was founded in 1977 and it is one of the most important film festivals in Brazil. The festival is part of the São Paulo city cultural agenda by bringing outstanding filmmakers from worldwide to exchange experience with the Brazilian audience and professional colleagues. It is internationally renowned for its excellent programme and for revealing talented new names.
AC/E took part in the festival by facilitating the presence of filmmakers and actors during the screenings of their films and in parallel activities.
The festival has been held uninterruptedly for 38 years and has been responsible for bringing a broad variety of films to the country. Wim Wenders, Pedro Almodóvar, Quentin Tarantino, Abbas Kiarostami, Amos Gitai, Tsai Ming Liang, Apichatpong Weerasethakul are just some of the many internationally acclaimed filmmakers whose work was first shown in Latin America during the Sao Paulo festival.
