The Madrid choreography competition is the oldest platform for choreographic creation in Spain. It invests in creators’ potential and fosters access to new audiences, the promotion of new talents, the inclusion of choreographers in national and international programmes, networking, and links between artists, projects and audiences in Spain, Europe and the Americas. The platform features workshops, meetings and talks during an action-packed week in Madrid and creates opportunities throughout the year. The 29th edition of the contest is taking place at the Teatro Conde Duque from 2 to 5 December. Sixteen companies from all over Spain will take part. The side activities will begin before that, on 30 November, and will include workshops and meetings. This year the contest coincides with the FIB in Barcelona (from 6 to 8 December) so that international visitors can attend both during their stay in Spain. The competition is a key meeting point for creators, planners, cultural agents and educators.
The AC/E Programme for the Internationalisation of Spanish Culture (PICE) is making it possible for five prominent international planners to attend the event.
