2016 International Siglo de Oro Drama Festival in Chamizal

2016 International Siglo de Oro Drama Festival in Chamizal

The Siglo de Oro Drama Festival in Chamizal is an annual activity that started out in 1976. The festival has earned an international reputation on account of the quality of the theatre groups it showcases from all over the world. The guest companies perform Spanish Golden Age plays by leading literary figures such as Lope de Vega, Miguel de Cervantes and Calderón de la Barca, whose legacy of classical theatre enriches the world with its beauty and passion.

For the 2016 edition, AC/E is supporting the performance at the festival of Lope de Vega’s Mujeres y Criados, directed by Spaniard Rodrigo Arribas. The 41st edition of the festival in Chamizal will also host the annual meeting of the Golden Age University Theatre Network in the USA. Also supported by AC/E, this network is devoted to selling and showing productions and to fostering the dissemination of plays and authors by organising conferences and research projects.
