AC/E supports the participation of Chicuelo and Marco Mezquida with his last work “Conexión” at this year's Tokyo Jazz Festival. Goya award winner, brilliant soloist and partner for Poveda and Duquende, Chicuelo is a chosen one: few composers and guitarists as solid and influential as Juan Gómez, Chicuelo have ever emerged in Flamenco.
Marco Mezquida is an absolute, overwhelming musician possessed of a unique pianism, of a speech that is watered by diversity; one who has had the entire European scene in awe since his appearance.
"Conexión" is the meeting of two equally distinct and ductile artistic personalities. An intersection defined by authenticity, mutual admiration and complete devotion to music. Within less of a year since its released, Chicuelo and Mezquida have already presented Conexión in some world class stages in many countries, including the Kölner Philarmonie (Germany), Rocher de Palmer (France), Jazzaldia (Spain, Jazzahead! (Germany), Jazz na Fábrica (Brazil), Festival Internacional de Jazz de Buenos Aires (Argentina), Festival Mawazine (Morocco), Opera de Argel (Argel) and have many confirmed performances for 2018 in the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Czech Republic, among others.
Tokyo Jazz Festival is Japan's largest International Jazz Festival estabilished in 2002. The slogan of the festival from the beggining has always been "Beyond Borders, Beyond Generations" in belief that the art of JAZZ is an universal language that can bring everyone from everywhere together. Every year, nearly 80,000 fans gather together to enjoy a weekend full of jazz music. More than 200 artists from all over the globe join the festival and perfom in various styles.
