escenalborde, is a platform for the creation, research, teaching and production of the contemporary performing arts that is based in Valparaíso. It started off as a project associated with the Mundo Moebio and La Ortopedia companies and aimed at the professionalization, creative exchange and international promotion of dancers and actors. Since 2001 escenalborde has been teaching and organising refresher seminars, residencies and workshops, notable among which is the staging of the Danzalborde international festival. It also creates, produces and coproduces contemporary dance.
The 13th Danzalborde festival seeks to extend its dissemination activities to other regions of the country, specifically northern Chile. The Compañía Provisional de Danza de Madrid, directed by dancer and choreographer Carmen Wegner, is taking part in this year’s festival. AC/E is collaborating in this project by facilitating the company’s participation through the PICE mobility awards. The project involves three performances in different regions, each accompanied by an open conversation with the company and Danzalborde’s directors, in addition to a training course for local cultural managers in each region. Since its establishment in 1987, the Compañía Provisional Danza has fostered and developed constant ties of collaboration in order to contribute, through standards and methods of excellence, to training future generations of artists, both national and international.dirigida por la bailarina y coreógrafa Carmen Wegner.
