Javier Peñafiel's residence will feature various performance events and an exhibition. Following an investigative period where he gives a re-reading of the “Las estrellas caen del cielo” (Stars fall from the sky) a study of superstition by T. Adorno - interspersed with places and motifs taken from the local context, the artist will produce a piece of sound, a set of drawings on the ceiling in collaboration with the Argentine artist Gustavo Marrone, and will give a series of dramatised lectures.
Always concerned with the individual's political condition, with biopolitics, Javier Peñafiel (Zaragoza, Spain, 1964) has developed his work through drawings and dramatised readings, collections of which have been published in book form by the artist. From the perspective of poetry, and with the voice featuring as his central theme, through his body of work, Javier Peñafiel proposes a journey through history, recovering the presence -both documented and intuited - of celebrated historical figures who embraced critical thought as a form of struggle and resistance.
