RESULTS 2015sElECtion of projECts146/Gijon Projects Spanish cinema to the worldjAViEr yustEEL CULTURAL | 20/11/2015 e Gijon International Film Festival promotes emerging Spanish cinema, attracting international cinema movers and shakers with the support of the Spain’s Public Agency for Cultural Action (AC/E - Acción Cultural Española) through its Programme for the Internationalisation of Spanish Culture. e 53rd edition of the Gijon International Film Festival (Festival Internacional de Cine de Gijón - FICX) kicks o today showing o some of the best independent and art- house cinema from all corners of the world. Up to the festival’s close on Saturday 28 November, the streets of this Asturian city will be trodden by lm directors of such renown as Víctor Erice, Arturo Ripstein, Brillante Mendoza, Mamoru Hosoda or Apichatpong Weerasethakul; all big guns in their respective elds of non-complacent cinema.As with other International cinemaevents, the FICX has long-since enriched its programme with parallel fringe activities aimed at consolidating the cinema industry and raising its pro le, both locally in Asturias and on the international stage.
