106GAME DESIGN AS A CULTURAL DISSEMINATORClara Fernández Vara @clarafvClara Fernández Vara is a video game designer and writer, as well as an associate professor at the Game Center, New York University (NYU). Her work builds interdisciplinary bridges for creating innovative methods and blazing new trails in the study and development of video games. She focuses on developing stories in digital environments through interaction and environmental storytelling. Clara gained a degree in English Studies from the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid, where shewas awarded a diploma in advanced English Literature Studies; she subsequently earned a masters’ degree in Comparative Media Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a doctorate in Digital Media from Georgia Tech. She completed her post-doctorate studies at Singapore- MIT GAMBIT Game Lab, and continued her research as a visiting fellow at The Trope Tank, alsoat the MIT. She has worked on games in the academic and commercial  elds, always focusing on narrative games, and has presented her work internationally at conferences such as the Game Developers Conference, the Digital Games Research Association (DiGRA) and Foundations of Digital Games (FDG).
