FOREWORD 13
To that same list, it will now be added Jordi Colomer, along with his project ¡Únete! Join us!, with Manuel Segade as its curator, presenting a junction of video, sculpture and architecture as their central proposition. A project plentiful of nuances and references (and this catalogue demonstrates so) that looks for involvement from its audience, starting from its title.
This interpellation constitutes, ultimately, a claim on art to its role as invigorating and mobilizing, also setting considerations on fiery questions of our times, on our conditions as individuals and, at the same time, as part of a community. Arte viva, in this sense, and linking back to the central leitmotif of La Biennale.
Spain reaches La Biennale this year with an ambitious proposition, matched up to the relevance of the venue and the efforts to keep strengthening our foreign cultural promotion. In Venice, the epicenter of contemporary art, the Spanish Pavilion is projected as an invitation to meet the liveliness of a country that assumes culture as one of its richest assets.
Similarly to any other respectful human task, this is a joint work for which a few gratitude notes are required: to Jordi Colomer, Manuel Segade and their teams, for their commitment and dedication; to Acción Cultural Española, that has contributed, for another year, to the production at the Pavilion; and to the persons and institutions (AECID, Spanish Embassy in Rome) that have made this project possible.
Hopefully this will be of your interest and deserve you appreciation. This would be the greatest recognition to the work done.
