Epilogue or IntervalYou have to see it... to believe it? Ampudia proposes something better: to do it. Because that is how these hands, these knees, these shoulders think: by doing.Smoke-invitation // glass-invitation // stain-invitation:In the end we always return to the beginning. A Molotov cocktail of blown glass (to blow up). Except now, instead of fire, we have encapsulated ink – that is, infinite potential. Fluid is like smoke, or rather smoke is like fluid – it also changes its form. It moves, changes its form, flows even more flexibly than this knee.Let us flow then. And in time, this gives us a moment to touch on Fluxus: the artist Dick Higgins, also moustachioed and with square-framed spectacles, once mentioned that, unlike the paintings of the Abstract Expressionists, the action-painting- collages of Allan Kaprow – a bearded artist with good vibes – were a sort of interval. Art as interval. Something’s happening. The Encapsulated Paintings are an interval. In this interval we find the physical event versus the production of an object. In the middle: our body. We’re here, in the interim, transformed. We bodies are like that, malleable, flexible, changeable. We’re subjunctive, we’re sheer potential – like Ampudia’sexplosive piece. Blanca de la Torre, the person responsible for Ampudia occupying this space, says of these pieces: ‘They’re here, but only fulfil their destiny when a force frees them and defines them. A rebellious, brave and pressing impulse triggers the change. It’s an action that is both playful and functional.’ Now that the space is ours, we are indebted to her as if to a good hostess; let us behave accordingly.A Molotov cocktail of blown glass: instead of fire, ink. Smash it against the wall. There’s your painting. Power. And more still: here are your wires, your detonator, your cartridges. Get burning. There’s no way out.Explode, burst, smash, open, break, crack, splinter, disintegrate, spoil, drain, exhaust, use, take advantage, utilise, exploit, burst, detonate, shatter, wreck, blow up, shatter, bust, dynamite, fly into pieces, knock down, tear up, destroy, disappear, detonate, activate. There’s no longer a spectrator here either, just a mirror. Look at yourself. From the future, thinking about you, the hand, shoulders, foot and knee of Gabriela Jáuregui19 | EUGENIO AMPUDIA. THE FUTURE BELONGS TO NO ONE YET19 | EUGENIO AMPUDIA.
